Federal & state tax returns, prepared by experts.

We prepare, review and e-file your federal return and every state return you owe, so nothing is missed and every deduction and credit you qualify for is claimed.

Form 10401040-NRState returnsW-4 review

A return accomplished, not just a filled-in form.

Filing gets risky when you live or work in more than one state, own a business, or need careful refund calculations and deadline management. GPT’s security and risk teams work hand in hand with our digital specialists to identify, assess and resolve your situation with tailored tax solutions. GPT professionals review your part-year and full-year federal and state returns together, so they agree with each other.

As an IRS Authorized e-file Provider, we make sure your returns are e-filed accurately and accepted without issues.

How it works

  1. Create your account. Register online and tell us about your situation in a short questionnaire.
  2. Upload your documents. Send your tax forms through the secure client portal or the GPT mobile app.
  3. Review your estimate. Your tax expert prepares the return and walks you through the estimate.
  4. E-sign and file. Approve the return online and we e-file with the IRS and your states.

Documents you'll typically need

  • Forms W-2 from every employer during the year
  • Forms 1099 (interest, dividends, brokerage, freelance and retirement income)
  • Form 1098 for mortgage interest and 1098-T/1098-E for education
  • Last year's tax return, if you weren't a GPT client

  • Records of deductible expenses such as charitable donations, childcare and medical costs

Not eligible to e-file? In the rare cases where a return can't be filed electronically, we send you a signed copy by email with clear instructions on where to sign and mail it.

Frequently asked questions

When is the federal filing deadline?

For most people, federal returns are due on April 15. If that date falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline moves to the next business day. You can request an automatic six-month extension to file, but any tax you owe is still due by the original deadline.

I moved to a new state during the year. Which states do I file in?

Usually both. You typically file a part-year resident return in each state you lived in, and sometimes a non-resident return in a state where you worked but didn't live. We work out which returns you need and make sure income isn't taxed twice.

Can you file returns for previous years?

Yes. We prepare and file prior-year returns for people who missed a year, and we can check whether you're owed a refund from a year you didn't file.

How do I know my return was accepted?

After we e-file, the IRS and states confirm acceptance electronically. You'll see the status in your GPT client account.
