Frequently asked questions

When is my Canadian personal tax return due?

For most people the T1 return is due on April 30 for the previous year. If you or your spouse or common-law partner are self-employed, you have until June 15 to file, but any balance owing is still due on April 30.

When does a corporation have to file its T2 return?

A T2 return is due six months after the end of the corporation's tax year. Any tax owing is usually due two or three months after the year end, depending on the corporation.

Why should I file even if I had little or no income?

Filing is how the CRA works out your benefits and credits, such as the GST/HST Credit and the Canada Child Benefit. If you don't file, those payments can stop.

I live in Canada and also have US income or US citizenship. Can you handle both?

Yes. Our US and Canada teams work together, so income, foreign tax credits and treaty relief line up on both returns.

The CRA sent me a review or audit letter. What should I do?

Don't ignore it - reply by the date on the letter. Send it to us; once you authorize us with the CRA, we can gather the documents and respond for you.

Speak with a tax expert about your return.
